Profile
Ideogramic's core competency is diagramming solutions, especially
in combination with pen-based interfaces such as electronic whiteboards and tablet
computers. Our products and services
include the software development tool Ideogramic UML™; custom-made
diagramming tools developed on a contract basis, and more general
software development consultancy services.
History
Ideogramic was founded in July 2000 after two years of intensive
research in intuitive user interfaces performed at the University of Aarhus, Denmark. After
having released version 1.0 of the first product in June 2001,
Ideogramic has extended its product portfolio to a range of
diagramming tools targeted at various work situations. Ideogramic both
offers a selection of own products as well as general consulting and
expertise for developing specially tailored solutions for other
companies.
Mission Statement and Values
Ideogramic is determined to offer products that fit exactly with
the needs of our customers. The products must have the highest
possible quality, both in terms of software reliability and technical
support, but also in terms of ease of use, intuitiveness, and
innovation.
In order to accomplish this, we base our products on the latest
research, including our revolutionary gesture recognition technology
(patent pending). Our products allow their users to work in ways not
seen before with the goal of achieving higher productivity, better
quality, and user satisfaction through an emphasis on the fact
that:
- tools should allow users to focus on their work instead of the tools themselves,
- tools should be efficient but also joyful, and
- tools should support, and enhance, the practitioner's work.
Or put in another way, we provide "Intuitive tools supporting your
ideas". This is in fact the motto of Ideogramic!
Ideogram
What is the story of our name? The name "Ideogramic" is a
combination of the two words: Idea and Diagram. We provide software
tools that support people's ideas, and the way people usually express
their ideas is through diagrams.
But "ideogramic" in fact also exists as a word, and the meaning of this word is
a picture or symbol used in a system of writing to represent a thing
or an idea but not a particular word or phrase for it;
especially: one that represents not the object pictured but
some thing or idea that the object pictured is supposed to suggest.
In Ideogramic's tools, people express their ideas using just that:
ideograms that represent ideas from the mind of the users.
